Moon mission fifty years afterwards
The last Moon mission was in 1972 while i lived in UK. I was 38 years old and had already experienced the Apollo 11 historic NASA mission some 3 years earlier that first landed humans on the surface of the crater of the Moon, the Sea of Tranquility at 4.17 US Eastern Standard time, on 20 July 1969 .
It was the fifth crewed Apollo program from Cape Canaveral, renamed Kennedy Space Centre, Florida, USA ,with Neil Armstrong, six hours after landing, followed by Buzz Aldrin, 19 minutes later, both walking on the surface, leaving their space buggy aside. They planted the US Star and Stripes flag, collected some 47 lbs of lunar soil, spoke to President Nixon. It was called :
"one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind".
FAST FORWARD SOME FIFTY YEARS
